Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Tennis Team continued a previously halted match against CUNY Athletic Conference rival Baruch College earlier today. The Bulldogs edged the Bearcats by a 5-4 score to improve to 7-5 on the season and 5-3 in conference play. Baruch falls to 4-9 overall, 4-5 in league play.
Brooklyn came into today's continuation match leading 3-2 after taking all three doubles flights back on October 5th. The team of
Maria Sanz Far (Rockaway, NY/Bishop Ford) and
Diana Derks (Frankfurt, Germany/Herlong) got the Bulldogs on the board by downing the duo of Viktoriya Morozova and Marianna Kogan, 8-6, at No. 1 Doubles. The Bearcats would default No. 2 and No. 3 Doubles, but were able to salvage the day by taking No. 5 and No. 6 Singles before the match was halted due to inclement weather and darkness.
In the continuation match, Baruch took the top two Singles flights, but would have to default on No. 3 and No. 4 Singles flights, which gave the Bulldogs the 5-4 victory.
Brooklyn returns to action tomorrow, Thursday, October 15th, when the Bulldogs will travel to Staten Island, NY to resume their match with the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island, which was stopped due to inclement weather this past Tuesday.
