BC Softball Takes Two From Saint Elizabeth

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team swept a doubleheader from the Eagles of the College of Saint Elizabeth, taking game one 9-0 and game two 8-0, in non-conference action this afternoon at Monsignor Crawford Field. With the wins, the Bulldogs improve to 4-0, while the Eagles fall to 0-8.

In opener, the Bulldogs were led by sophomore Tess Studholme (Kent, England/Notre Dame), who went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, with an RBI and a run scored. Freshman Norah Marley (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) and sophomore Antoinette Brown (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) also had multi-hit games, as each went 2-for-3. Marley drove in a run and scored twice, while Brown had an RBI and a runs scored. Freshman Lisa Morro (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) had the highlight hit of the game when she blasted a solo homerun over the left field fence to give the Bulldogs a commanding 9-0 lead.

Sophomore Nicole Barrasso (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) had a dominant pitching performance on the mound tossing five shut out innings, allowing just one hit and giving up two walks, while striking out seven. Her counterpart Alexandria Gooding went four innings, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits, while also walking nine.

In the nightcap Barrasso was brilliant once again going five innings, while surrendering just three hits and fanning five. Catherine Eber got the start for St. Elizabeth, going four innings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on 11 hits, while walking five and striking out two.

Junior Danielle Maresca (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) and senior Jenna Ferrara (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) were perfect at the plate as each batter went 3-for-3. Maresca made the most of her opportunities on the bases coming around to score four times in the game. Morro provided some more offensive punch going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The Bulldogs are back in action this Saturday, March 20th when Brooklyn travels to Purchase, NY to take on Purchase College in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch for game one is scheduled for Noon.
