Box Score (Game 2)

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team dropped both games of a CUNYAC doubleheader against the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island this afternoon at Monsignor Crawford Athletic Field. The Bulldogs fell in game one by a 9-1 score and were shutout in the night, 10-0. Brooklyn is now 14-8 overall on the year and 7-5 in conference play, while the Dolphins improve their mark to 15-9 overall and 7-1 in league play.

CSI starting pitcher Danielle Ponsiglione (12-3) baffled the Brooklyn hitters all afternoon, picking up victories in both games. Ponsiglione tossed six strong innings in the opener, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out five. Then, in the nightcap, Ponsiglione pitched five shutout innings, scattering seven hits, walking one and striking out four.

Junior Danielle Maresca's (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) RBI double, which drove in classmate Ashley Allen (Sunnyside, NY/William C. Bryant) in the bottom of the third, accounted for the lone Bulldog run on the day. Maresca had a solid day at the plate going 3-for-6 in the doubleheader. Sophomore Tess Studholme (Kent, England/Notre Dame), who picked up her second straight CUNYAC Rookie of the Week award this week, and senior Jenna Ferrara (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) both had multi-hit games in game two.

Brooklyn will not have any time to rest, as the Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, April 14th, as they will play host to New Jersey City University in a non-conference doubleheader at Monsignor Crawford Field. First pitch is slated for 4:00 pm.
