Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

Staten Island, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team dropped a CUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader to the Bearcats of Baruch College on Sunday afternoon at the CSI Softball Complex in Staten Island, NY. The Bulldogs lost the opener 3-1 and game two 7-5.

With the losses, Brooklyn falls to 9-12-1 overall on the season and 6-3-1 in conference play; while Baruch, the reigning CUNYAC champions, improve to 6-10 overall on the year and 3-1 in league play.

In game one, the Bearcats would jump out to a 3-0 lead after three innings, plating two runs in the first and another in the third. Baruch took advantage of a pair of BC fielding miscues to score in the first and third innings.

The Bulldogs would cut their deficit to 3-1 in the top of the fifth on an RBI double from senior Danielle Maresca that scored classmate Ashley Allen. However, that's as close as BC would get as Baruch's Nicole Flint went the distance, going seven innings, while allowing just one run on seven hits, walking one and striking out four.

In game two, Brooklyn would strike first, scoring three runs in the opening inning. Tara Diesel's two-run double was the highlight of the inning, as she drove home both Norah Marley and Maresca. Diesel would later come around to score on an RBI single from Katherine Fuentes.

Baruch would answer quickly scoring two runs in their half of the first, benefiting from two errors by the Bulldogs.

Brooklyn would score two more runs in the top of the third to push its lead to 5-2; however the Bearcats would again chip away at their deficit, with two runs of their own in their half of the third, to make it 5-4 in favor of Brooklyn.

Baruch would take its first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring two runs on four hits, to take a 6-5 lead. The Bearcats would tack on another run in the sixth for the eventual 7-5 victory.

Flint was the difference maker in the game once again, as she threw four shutout innings in relief, allowing just one hit, while striking out five batters, to pick up the win.

Brooklyn will be back in action on Tuesday, April 12th, as the Bulldogs will take on borough rival Saint Joseph's College – Brooklyn in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Padavan-Preller Fields in Bellerose, NY.
