BC controlled the first set from the opening serve, as the Bulldogs rattled off 10 straight points en route to cruising to their 25-6 win. Junior
Jillian Escobar helped fuel the 10-0 run recording five service aces during the stretch. Escobar showcased why she is one of the top servers in the country, as the Queens Village, NY native is currently ranked second in all of NCAAA Division III in aces-per-set. Brooklyn also used a strong hitting percentage to take the opening set, registering 10 kills, while committing just two errors on 17 total attacks (.471).
The second set was much more competitive as the teams tied on six occasions to go along with two lead changes. Trailing 24-16 late in the second stanza, Brooklyn battled back valiantly, using a 6-0 run to cut its deficit to 24-22. Chu contributed to the run with a pair of service aces. In the end, the deficit would be too much to overcome, as the Bloodhounds too the set 25-22 to tie the match at 1-1.
The third set featured much of the same as the first, as Escobar's serving helped BC jump out to a 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs would never look back en route to their 25-16 win to take a 2-1 advantage.
Looking to close out the match, Brooklyn used a 6-0 run in the fourth and final set to increase their lead to 15-5, as the Bulldogs would go on to take the set 25-16 and the match 3-1.
