New York, NY----Despite taking the first set, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball ended their season on Friday, as the No. 3 seeded Bulldogs were outlasted by top-seeded John Jay, 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 16-25, 25-27) in the CUNYAC Championship match at Baruch College. Brooklyn ends the season with a 14-16 overall record after advancing to the CUNYAC Championship for the first time in three years. The Bloodhounds improved to 23-6 with the conference title win and punch their second straight ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

Lauren Caiaccia would comment following the hard-fought Bulldog effort. "Credit the seniors for helping lead us here and their efforts the last month."
Brooklyn jumped out to a 5-2 lead to start the match beginning with an ace served up by senior libero,
Ruti Joshi. John Jay would respond and grabbed an 18-17 lead before Brooklyn went on a key five-point rally capped by a block handled by senior middle,
Ayatallah Elkotby, to give Brooklyn a 22-18 advantage. Freshman outside hitter,
Saule Okeke-Ziburkus ended the set with a kill
With the score tied, 13-13, in the second set, the Bloodhounds made their move beginning with four unanswered scores. They would eventually close the second set out on a four-score rally to tie the match, 1-1.
After clusters of small runs to take a 2-1 advantage following the third set, Brooklyn came out in the fourth set re-energized, powering out to a 14-5 lead after a kill put away by freshman right side,
Ella Snobar. Brooklyn kept a comfortable 21-13 lead until the Bloodhounds began their comeback with a five-point surge. BC responded and was a point away, 24-20, from forcing a deciding set before the Bloodhounds would retake the lead 25-24 following a 5-0 run. Brooklyn tied it after a John Jay bad set, but the defending champs would repeat after score the final two points of the match.
Okeke-Ziburkus led the way offensively with a team-high 12 kills Freshman outside hitter,
Olive Carroll, added 8 kills. Snobar finished with 6 kills and would go on to be named to the All-Tournament Team for efforts in all three matches this week. Joshi finished with a team-high 15 digs and set for 7 assists, and she would also be named to the All-Tournament Team.
