Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team split a doubleheader against regional rival Farmingdale State College this afternoon, as the Bulldogs took the opener by a score of 5-4, while the Rams took the nightcap 11-0.

BC moves to an even 5-5 overall on the season, while Farmingdale goes to 9-5 overall on the year.

The first game featured a tight contest throughout, as neither team was able to plate a run through the first three innings. The Rams would finally get on the board first, scoring a pair of runs in top of the fourth inning.

Brooklyn answer quickly in their half of the fourth, as Stephanie Caravello scored on a wild pitch to cut the Bulldogs deficit to 2-1.

The Rams would add another run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Hillary Genova that brought home Amanda Maass.

Maria Mantagas would keep Brooklyn in the game, as her RBI single in the bottom of the fifth scored Meagan Cranston to make it 3-2 in favor of Farmingdale.

A Maass RBI single in the top of the sixth would later give the Rams a 4-2 lead; however, the Bulldogs would counter with a two-run sixth inning to tie the game at 4-4, on a pair of RBI singles from Kim Konklowski and Cranston.

After shutting down the Rams in the top of the seventh, BC entered their half of the inning with a chance to win the game in regulation. Following back-to-back singles from Mantagas and Allison Donovan, Tara Diesel came through with a game-winning RBI double that scored Mantagas to give Brooklyn the 5-4 victory.

Konklowski, Mantagas and Diesel all had multi-hit games for Brooklyn.

Taylor Tedeshci took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits, while walking five and striking out seven batters over six innings of work.

Game two featured a much different game, as the Rams offense exploded six runs in the first two innings of the game. Farmingdale would tack on five more runs in the fourth, as the Rams would go on to take an 11-0 win and split the doubleheader.

Aubrey Walker and Lisa Bonacasa each had three RBI to pace the Farmingdale offense.

Chelsea La Marca silenced the Brooklyn bats, tossing five shutout innings, while allowing just six hits, to go along with three strikeouts. Kimberly Brennan took the loss for BC, allowing 11 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits, while walking three and striking out four, over five innings.
