Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Softball Team hung in tough with first place Staten Island on Saturday, but could not muster up enough offense to win either game of the doubleheader, falling 3-1 in game one and 4-0 in game two.  With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 11-13 and 4-6 in the CUNYAC, while the Dolphins improve to 9-13 and 7-1 in league play. 

Game one saw Staten Island get runs in each of the first three innings to build a 3-0 advantage, but BC starting hurler Marie Oneto shut the door on the visitors for the remainder of the game to keep her team in it. 

Brooklyn was not able to take advantage as their 11 hits would only result in one run, scored by Norah Marley on an Antoinette Brown single in the sixth. 

The Bulldogs best scoring chance came in the bottom of the third when Brown, Kim Konklewski and Meagan Cranston led the inning with consecutive hits, but the big inning was slowed when Brown was nailed at the plate trying to score from second on the Cranston knock.  Stephanie Caravello popped up to third for the second out and Maria Mantagas grounded out to end the threat. 

Konklewski and Brown each had three hits in the game for BC.

CSI was led by Brittany Smith who went three for four with a run scored, while Danielle Ponsiglione picked up her sixth win of the season.

Game two was dominated by Staten Island freshman pitcher Victoria Procopio who threw the first no-hitter of her career.  Procopio, who did not walk a batter and struck out four, entered the seventh with a perfect game, but the leadoff hitter for the Bulldogs, Konklewski, hit a one-hopper back to Procopio that she could not field cleanly, allowing ther runner safe on the error.  She proceeded to retire the following three batters in order for the shutout victory.

The majority of the Dolphins offense in game two was supplied by the long ball as Kristi Dillon hit a solo shot, while Kaitlyn Flynn hit a long two-run shot.

Brooklyn will play their final two conference games of the season on Tuesday as they host York College beginning at 3:30 at Monsingnor Crawford Field.
