Bronxville, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader against the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College on Sunday afternoon by scores of 19-0 and 12-0. BC improves to an even 13-13 overall on the season, while SLC falls to 0-9 overall on the year.
Starting pitchers
Marie Oneto (10-7) and
Kimberly Brennan (3-2) were solid on the mound for the Bulldogs, as Oneto picked up the win in game one, while Brennan took home the win in the nightcap.
The Brooklyn offense exploded in the first game with 18 hits to plate 19 runs. Leading the way was sophomore
Stephanie Caravello, who went 2-for-2 with four RBI and three runs scored. Caravello's three-run homerun in the bottom of the third helped cap off an eight run inning.
Along with Caravello,
Becky Ganley also homered in the game, going 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Brennan also had a solid day at the plate going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while
Antoinette Brown went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.
Katharine Fuentes finished the game going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and runs scored.
The Bulldogs continued to swing a hot bat in game two, scoring 12 runs on nine hits.
Kristina Bermudez led the way going 3-for-3 with four RBI and a runs scored.
Tara Diesel drove in a pair of runs, including a solo homerun; while Caravello and Fuentes both drove in two runs each.
Brooklyn will be back in action on Tuesday, April 17th, as the Bulldogs will play host to the Cardinals of York College in the final City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) doubleheader for both teams. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm at Monsignor Crawford Field located on Avenue U and East 59th Street in Brooklyn, NY.
