Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

Long Island, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday against Briarcliffe College, as the Bulldogs lost the opener 4-2 and the nightcap 13-4. With its losses, Brooklyn falls to an even 15-15 on the season.

Game one featured a tight pitching duel, as the game would go scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when Briarcliffe's Ivette Yi-Santiago hit an RBI triple to bring home pinch runner Sasha Santamaria.

The game would remain 1-0 in favor of the home team, until the Brooklyn offense struck with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to take a 2-1 advantage. Tara Diesel's RBI single plated Kim Konklewski to tie the game, while Meagan Cranston later came around to score on a passed ball to give the Bulldogs the lead.

Down 2-1 heading into the final inning, Briarcliffe's Jillian McGovern ended the game with a three-run walk off homerun to give the home team a 4-2 victory.

Along with registering the game winning hit, McGovern also did her part in the circle, going the distance allowing two runs on seven hits, while giving up two walks and striking out six over seven innings of work.

Brooklyn's Marie Oneto (12-8) took the loss allowing four runs (three earned) on 10 hits, while striking out six batters.

Briarcliffe would strike first again in the second game, as a pair of Brooklyn errors led to a six-run third inning for the home team.

The Bulldogs would cut their deficit in half in the top of the fourth, as Norah Marley keyed the three-run inning with a two-run single that scored Allison Donovan and Maria Mantagas.

Brooklyn would later make it a 6-4 game after Konklewski scored on a key error by Briarcliffe; however, that's as close as the visitors would get the rest of the way, as Briarcliffe add three more runs in the fifth and four more in the six en route to its 13-4 victory.

Yi-Santiago earned the win allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits, while waking two and striking out nine. Her counterpart, Diesel (0-5), took the loss allowing 13 runs (four earned) on 12 hits, while walking three and striking out one.

Brooklyn returns to action on Friday, April 27th, as the Bulldogs will play host to the College of New Rochelle in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Monsignor Crawford Field located on Avenue U and East 59th Street. Senior Antoinette Brown will be honored for her hard work and dedication to the BC Softball program as part of Senior Day celebrations.
