Staten Island, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team had its 2012 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC)/Applebee's Softball Championships run ended on day two of the double elimination round tournament, falling to the top seed and host College of Staten Island Dolphins, 10-0.
The Bulldogs finish their season with a 19-19 overall record and will now await a possible bid to the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Softball Championships. Selections will be announced on Monday, May 7th.
CSI moves on to play #3 Baruch College later today.
The Dolphins took an early 1-0 lead when a sacrifice fly from Danielle Ponsiglione scored Brittany Smith in the bottom of the first.
The game would remain 1-0 in favor of the home team until bottom of the third when the CSI offense exploded for five runs on five hits to go up 6-0. Victoria Procopio and Christine DeCarlo each chipped in with a two-run single to help fuel the rally.
The Dolphins would contine to swing a hot bat, as CSI added four more runs on four hits in the their half of the fourth en route to the 10-0 final. Stefanie Solari's three-run homerun to center field initiated the four-run inning.
Ponsiglione silienced the BC offense as she allowed just four hits and a walk, while striking out five in five innings of work to earn the victory. Her counterpart,
Marie Oneto, took the loss, surrendering 10 runs on 12 hits, while walking three over four innings.

Antoinette Brown all had a hit for the Bulldogs.
