Box Score 2 Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Softball Team opened their new field on Thursday afternoon by sweeping visiting Mt. St. Mary, 6-4, 11-10 in a non-conference doubleheader. The games marked the first time the team has played on campus since the 2008 season.
The second game of the day featured a dramatic comeback by the Bulldogs, who trailed 9-2 going into the bottom of the fifth. BC batted around in the inning, scoring six runs that were capped by a
Kim Konklewski two-out, two-run single. Mt. St. Mary added a run in the sixth on a Stephanie Karcher solo home run, that traveled over the left field fence, but Brooklyn came right back with two run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 10.
Both teams came up empty in the seventh, and so the game went into extra innings. BC pitcher
Kayla Hill was able to keep the Knights off the scoreboard in the top of the 8th, and then after getting runners at the corners,
Allison Donovan laid a perfect bunt down to score
Amanda Bisz from third base for the game-winning run.
Konklewski was the offensive star for the Bulldogs, going 4 for 4 with two RBI, while Hill picked up her first win as a Bulldog.
Game one saw junior hurler
Marie Oneto control the Mt. St. Mary bats, while Konklewski, once again got a big hit, this time a two-run double in the sixth to regain the lead for BC at 5-4. Hill then drove her in for an insurance run. Konklewski went 2 for 4 on the game with three RBI.
Brooklyn will be back out on their home field tomorrow when they host Purchase at 5 pm.
