Box Score 2 New York, NY --- For the second straight day, the Brooklyn College Softball team picked up a doubleheader sweep in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action, as the Bulldogs swept the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice by scores of 4-0 and 9-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island.
With the wins, BC improves to 10-2 overall on the season and 4-0 in CUNYAC play; while John Jay falls to 0-4 overall on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
In the opener, sophomore
Kayla Hill earned her second straight shutout to improve to 5-1 on the year, tossing seven innings, allowing just two hits and surrendering five walks, to go with six strikeouts. Her counterpart, Leeann Rosa took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits, while giving up three walks and striking out five over seven innings of work.
Junior
Amanda Bisz went 1-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored, while classmate
Meagan Cranston went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Coming in the nightcap, Brooklyn jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, plating six runs in the top of the first and another run in the top of the second, en route to its 9-4 victory.
Bisz was solid at the plate again, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Junior
Stephanie Caravello also went 3-for-4 with two RBI, to go with two runs scored; while Cranston continued to swing a hot bat going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Along with her bat, Bisz contributed to the win with her arm, tossing seven innings, while allowing four runs on six hits and giving up two walks, to go with five strikeouts, to improve to 4-1 on the year. Her counterpart, Sara McKenna took the loss allowing nine runs (six earned) on 12 hits, while walking two and striking out two over seven innings.
Brooklyn will be back in action again tomorrow, Thursday, March 28th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Jersey City, NJ to take on Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University in a nonconference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm. Live stats will be available for the games via
