Box Score 2 Brooklyn, NY --- In a battle for borough bragging rights, the Brooklyn College Softball team split its non-conference doubleheader against the Lady Bears of St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Friday evening at Brooklyn College Field. The Bulldogs took the opener 7-3, while the Lady Bears took the nightcap 8-6 to earn the split.
BC now stands at 17-12 overall on the season, while St. Joseph's (BK) moves to 10-11-1 overall on the year.
Sophomore hurler
Kayla Hill picked up the win in game one for Brooklyn to improve to 8-5 overall on the year. Hill tossed a complete game, allowing three runs on four hits, while giving up two walks and striking out seven over seven innings of work. Her counterpart, Mabel Vargas took the loss, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on 13 hits, while also walking two and striking out one.
The Bulldogs plated a run in the first, second, third and fourth innings, before putting up three runs in the fourth, en route to their 7-3 win. Hill helped her own cause going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Senior

Samantha Rodriguez and
Arislenia Rodriguez also had multi-hit game, as all three had two hits each. Senior
Norah Marley scored twice for BC.
For the Lady Bears, Vargas went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Danielle Marino, Morgan Summers and Andrea Sideli all drove home a run.
In game two, the Lady Bears took an early 3-0 lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first. The Bulldogs would answer quickly, cutting their deficit with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to make it 3-2 in favor of St. Joe's.
Brooklyn would tie the game at 3 all with a run in the bottom of the third; however, the Lady Bears would break the game open in the top of the fifth with four runs to go ahead 7-3. The visitors would add another run in the sixth to go up 8-3.
The Bulldogs would not go down easy, scoring a run of their own in the sixth and two more in the seventh, but their rally would fall short, as BC would drop the nightcap 8-6.
Sideli powered the offense for St. Joe's, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, while Jackie Perillo went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Marino went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, with one RBI and two runs scored. Cassandra Molinari also had a pair of hits in game two, to go with an RBI and a run scored.
For Brooklyn, Konklewski and
Samantha Rodriguez each had three hits in the second game, while
Arislenia Rodriguez drove home two runs.
Perillo picked up the win, tossing seven innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on 10 hits, while walking six and striking out one.
Marie Oneto took the loss, surrendering eight hits (six earned) on 13 hits, while striking out seven over seven innings of work.
Brooklyn will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, April 20th, as the Bulldogs will host Sarah Lawrence College in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm at BC Field.
