Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team will look to once again make a deep run in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Softball Championships, which begin with the First Round on Wednesday, May 1st. The #3 seeded Bulldogs (21-14 overall, 8-4 CUNYAC) will play host to the #6 seeded Lightning of Lehman College (4-23 overall, 2-10 CUNYAC) in the opening round. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Brooklyn College Field.
Brooklyn swept Lehman in their regular season doubleheader, taking game one 7-0 and game two 17-1 (five innings).
The Brooklyn/Lehman winner will advance to the double-elimination round, which begins with day one on Friday, May 3rd. The second and final day is scheduled for Saturday, May 4th. The double elimination round will be hosted by the College of Staten Island.
BC has advanced past the first round the past two seasons and into the double elimination round, while advancing day two of the double elimination round last season.
Powering the Brooklyn offense this season has been freshman catcher
Samantha Rodriguez. Rodriguez has started in all 35 games for the Bulldogs behind the plate, while boasting a stellar .417 (43-for-103) batting average, to go along with 27 RBI and 28 runs scored, all team-highs.
Another first year player, junior transfer
Amanda Bisz, has made an immediate impact with both her bat and arm. At the plate, Bisz is batting .402 (35-for-87) with 24 RBI and 15 runs scored; while in the circle, Bisz posted a 6-1 record with a 2.62 ERA, striking out 53 batters over 48 innings pitched.
Along with Bisz, sophomore transfer
Kayla Hill has also made a major impact in her first season. In the circle, Hill has been the team's ace, making 17 starts on the year, while registering a 10-6 record with a 3.18 ERA. She has struck out 70 batters over 103.1 innings pitched. Hill has also contributed on offense, with a .339 (38-for-112) batting average with 17 RBI and 23 runs scored.

Stephanie Caravello and
Allison Donovan will all be key figures in Brooklyn's championship aspirations.
Konklewski is batting .348 (40-for-115) with 16 RBI and 23 runs scored on the year at the leadoff spot, while Marley is batting .287 (25-for-87) with 16 RBI and 17 runs scored, shoring up the bottom of the order.
Cranston is having a career-year batting .375 (33-for-88) with 15 RBI and 18 runs scored, while Caravello is contributing with a .310 (31-for-100) batting average, to go with 17 RBI and 26 runs scored. Donovan has been solid defensively at short stop, while chipping in with 18 RBI and 19 runs scored on offense.
