Softball Swept By Baruch in CUNYAC Twin Bill

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 New York, NY --- In a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) softball doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Randall's Island (Field #17); the Brooklyn College Bulldogs were swept by the Baruch College Bearcats by scores of 8-0 and 6-0.

Brooklyn now falls to 11-8 overall on the season and 4-2 in CUNYAC play; while Baruch improves to 5-8 overall on the year and 4-0 in conference play.

Coming in the opener, the Bearcats scored at least one run in every inning, while plating two in the third and three in the fifth, en route to its 8-0 victory, which ended after the fifth inning via the run rule. RBI singles from Olivia Auman and Christine Bowman highlighted the bottom of the third, while Gianna Doukas' RBI double and Megan Ruiz's two-run homerun highlighting the bottom of the fifth for Baruch. Ruiz's long ball ended the game.

Nicole Flint picked up the win for the Bearcats, allowing three hits, while striking out two over five innings. Her counterpart, Kayla Hill, took the loss, allowing eight runs on 15 hits, while striking out one over 4.2 innings.

Kim Konklewski, Amanda Bisz and Meagan Cranston all had a hit for Brooklyn.

In the nightcap, Flint once again shutout the Bulldogs allowing three hits and striking out six over seven innings of work, to earn her second win of the day. Brooklyn's Marie Oneto took the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits, over six innings.

Toniann Donde got the Bearcats on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-run homerun. Baruch would add another three runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a two-run homerun from Courtney White, to give the home team a 5-0 lead. The Bearcats would score their sixth and final run in the bottom of the fourth on Ruiz's RBI single. Ruiz finished with three hits in the game.

Konklewski, Cranston and Allison Donovan all had a hit for Brooklyn.

Brooklyn will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, April 6th, when the Bulldogs will welcome the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm at Brooklyn College Field.
