Softball Sweeps New Rochelle

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday evening at Brooklyn College Field, shutting out the Blue Angels of the College of New Rochelle in both games, by identical scores of 9-0.

The Bulldogs are now 14-11 overall on the season, while the Blue Angels drop to 3-14 overall on the year.

In the opener, junior Amanda Bisz had the biggest hit of the game, a basses clearing triple that plated three runs in the bottom of the first, to help fuel an eight-run inning.

Sophomore Kayla Hill earned the win in the game, tossing three scoreless innings, while allowing just one hit and striking out five. Bisz closed out the final two innings to complete the shutout, surrendering just one hit as well, while striking out six.

In the nightcap, BC once again jumped out early, as freshman Arislenia Rodriguez, sophomore Maria Mantagas and Bisz all homered in the bottom of the first to cap a nine-run inning.

Bisz continued her solid pitching, picking up the win, throwing three perfect innings, while striking out seven batters. Sophomore Kimberly Brennan closed out the game, tossing the final two innings to complete perfect game, striking out four batters.

Brooklyn will return to the diamond this Saturday, April 13th, as the Bulldogs will hit the road to take on the Cardinals of York College in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
