Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- In the First Round of the 2013 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC)/Applebee's Softball Championships on Wednesday afternoon, the #3 seeded Brooklyn College Bulldogs defeated the #6 seeded Lehman College Lighting, 8-2, at Brooklyn College Field to advance to double elimination round of the championships, beginning on Friday, May 3rd at the College of Staten Island.

Brooklyn, now 22-14 overall on the season, will begin the double elimination round against the #2 seeded and host CSI Dolphins, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 pm. If BC defeats CSI, they will play at 6:00 pm and if they lose, they will play at 4:00 pm.

The Bulldogs wasted little time in taking control of the game, as BC plated seven runs through the first three innings.

Leading the BC offense was junior Allison Donovan, who went 3-for-4 on the day with three RBI and two runs scored. Donovan's two-run triple in the bottom of the third helped key a three-run inning.

Sophomore Kayla Hill also had a nice day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Hill's RBI triple in the bottom of the first got Brooklyn on the scoreboard as the Bulldogs never looked back en route to their 8-2 victory.

Freshman Samantha Rodriguez and junior Amanda Bisz also had two hits each on the day for Brooklyn, as the home team busted out 11 hits in the game.

Along with her stellar play at the plate, Hill also dominated in the circle, tossing a complete game to earn the win, allowing just two runs (one earned) on five hits, to go along with four strikeouts over seven innings of work.

Hill's counterpart, Sheila San Andres, took the loss, allowing eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits, while walking three over six innings.

Ashley Williams and Jelsey Cox each drove in a run for the Lightning who finish the season with a 4-24 record.

This will be Brooklyn's third straight appearance in the double elimination round of the championships. The Bulldogs advanced to the second day last season and will look to once again make a deep run this season.
