Softball Earns #7 Seed in ECAC Metro Championships

Centerville, MA --- The Brooklyn College Softball team has been selected to play in the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Softball Championships. The Bulldogs have earned the #7 seed and will play host to the #2 seeded Soaring Eagles of Elmira College in the First Round on Wednesday, May 8th. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Brooklyn College Field.

BC is 23-16 this season and reached day two of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Softball Championships for a second straight season.

Elmira, a member of the Empire 8 Conference, is 24-13 overall on the year.

The Brooklyn/Elmira winner will advance to the double elimination round to take on the winner between #3 Rutgers-Camden and #6 The Sage Colleges, which will begin on Saturday, May 11th at the highest remaining seed.

Leading the Bulldogs this season has been freshman Samantha Rodriguez, who is batting a team-best .407 (48-for-118), with 29 RBI and 30 runs scored, also team-highs.

Junior transfer Amanda Bisz has also made an immediate impact in her first season, posting a .386 (39-for-101) batting average with 25 RBI and 16 runs scored. Bisz also posted a 6-1 record in the circle, with a 2.62 ERA, striking out 53 batters in 48 innings.

Senior Kim Konklewski is batting .364 (47-for-129) with 16 RBI and 26 runs scored, while junior Meagan Cranston is also hitting .364 (36-for-99) on the year with 15 RBI and 20 runs scored.

Sophomore transfer Kayla Hill has contributed with a .341 (43-for-126) batting average, to go along with 20 RBI and 25 runs scored. She has also been the team's ace, posting an 11-8 record with a 3.01 ERA, striking out 76 batters in 123.1 innings of work.

Juniors Stephanie Caravello (.313 batting average, 19 RBI and 29 runs scored) and Allison Donovan (22 RBI and 22 runs scored) have also been key contributors this season.
