Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team (8-15) won its second match in as many days as the Bulldogs defeated the Privateers of SUNY Maritime College (6-8) in straight sets, 3-0 (26-24, 27-25, 25-11), at the West Quad Center on Thursday.
BC was led by freshman
Jessica Yin, who paced the offense with 24 assists, to go with four service aces and nine digs. Sophomore
Francesca LoCascio finished the match with a team leading eight kills (.412 hitting percentage), to go with a team-high 13 digs, while classmate
Christolia Butler chipped in with seven kills (.353 hitting percentage), to go with three solo blocks and two block assists. Senior
Fanny Ng and junior
Sasha Roopchand each contributed to the defense with 12 and nine digs, respectively. Ng also tallied four aces.
For the Privateers, Shannon Brady finished the match with 20 kills, a game-high, to go with 12 digs for the double-double. Carly Lombardo and Christine McCormack each helped to set the offense with 14 and 10 assists, respectively. Sydney Carella finished with a match-best 16 digs.
The teams combined for 16 ties and six lead changes throughout the three sets.
Brooklyn will be back in action this Saturday, October 11th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Montclair, NJ to take part in a tri-match hosted by Montclair State University. BC will take on host MSU at 10:00 am, before going up against Moravian College at 12:00 pm. Live stats and video will be available.
