Box Score 2 Bellerose, NY --- The Brooklyn College Softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader over borough rival St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Thursday afternoon at Padavan-Preller Field in Bellerose. The Bulldogs took the opener, 20-2 (five innings), before taking a 16-2 (five innings) win in the nightcap to complete the sweep. Both games ended in the fifth via run rule.
Brooklyn improves to 24-12 overall on the season, while St. Joseph's (BK) drops to 9-15 overall on the year. The 24 wins for BC this season top last season's program record of 23 wins.
In game one, senior
Stephanie Caravello powered the BC offense going 4-for-5 at the plate with three doubles, while driving in seven runs. Caravello aided BC's 14-run fifth inning that put the game away, with a pair of doubles and three RBI.
The Bulldogs batted around in the fifth, as Brooklyn scored 14 runs on eight hits and an error.
Other key figures that contributed to BC's offensive explosion in the opener were junior
Kayla Hill (2-for-4, three RBI, three runs scored), senior
Meagan Cranston (1-for-3, two RBI, three runs scored) and junior

Senior
Marie Oneto (8-5) picked up the win allowing two runs on seven hits, while striking out three over three innings. Classmate
Amanda Bisz finished the game, allowing two hits and a walk, while striking out one over two innings.
For the Lady Bears, Jackie Perillo (5-7) took the loss, allowing 20 runs (19 earned) on 14 hits, while walking six and striking out two over five innings.
Perillo and Cassandra Molinari each had a pair of hits in the game, while Kristin Ferrigno and Maria Randazzo each drove in a run for St. Joseph's (BK).
Game two saw Bulldogs' offense continue to roll, as Brooklyn would go on to score seven runs in the top of the first inning en route to its 16-2 victory.
Fueling the BC offense once again was Caravello, who finished the game going 2-for-4 with four RBI and four runs scored. Hill went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Bisz went 2-for-4 with two RBI and four runs scored. Senior
Nicole Tufano also drove in two runs.
Cranston finished the game going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while sophomore
Samantha Rodriguez also had a three-hit game going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Donovan had a pair of hits in the game.
Hill (10-4) picked up the win, allowing an unearned run on three hits, while striking out four over three innings. For Hill, this marks the second straight season that she has reached double-digit win totals. Junior
Kimberly Brennan finished the game, allowing one run on one hit, while walking two and striking out three over two innings.
Jamilynn McGowan (4-8) took the loss, allowing 16 runs (12 earned) on 17 hits, while walking eight and striking out four over five innings.
Samantha Rossi went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Molinari also drove in a run.
Brooklyn will conclude its regular season this Saturday, April 26th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Bronxville, NY to take on the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
