Softball Sweeps St. Elizabeth

Morristown, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Softball team (13-11) swept a non-conference doubleheader over the College of Saint Elizabeth (6-14) on Monday afternoon, as the Bulldogs took game one, 6-0, before taking the nightcap, 5-1, to complete the twin bill sweep.

In the opener, Kayla Hill (5-5) tossed a complete game shutout, as she struck out 11 batters, while walking just one and giving up two hits over seven solid innings.

Hill also contributed with her bat, as she went a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored to help her own cause.  Samantha Rodriguez and Michelle Cranston also had multi-hit games, while Chrissy Heyer scored two runs.

Danesha Triplett (1-4) took the loss for St. Elizabeth, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits, while walking four and striking out one over four innings. Alexandria Garcia finished the game, tossing three innings and allowing one run on two hits, while walking three and striking out four.

In game two, Ashley Tkascik (6-2) continued Brooklyn's strong pitching on the day, as she allowed just one run on six hits, while walking three and striking out five over seven complete innings.

Kristina Bermudez went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Heyer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Rodriguez had her second straight multi-hit game of the day.

Christina Scolaro (0-5) allowed two runs on four hits, while walking two and striking out two over four innings. Jessica Rediger tossed the final three innings, surrendering three runs (one earned) on six hits, while walking one and striking out one. Scolaro went 2-for-4 at the plate, while Grace Bailey drove in the Eagles' lone run scoring Alesandria DeSapio.

Brooklyn will return to the diamond on Thursday, April 16th, as the Bulldogs will take on the Hawks of Hunter College in a key City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm at BC Field. The first 150 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt.
