Brooklyn, NY --- For the fifth straight season, the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (19-16) will play in the double elimination round of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC)/Pepsi Softball Championships. Brooklyn, the #3 seed in the championships, defeated #6 Baruch College (5-20), 11-0, in the First Round on Wednesday at Brooklyn College Field.

The Bulldogs will begin the double elimination round on Friday, May 1st at 2:00 pm against #2 Hunter College at the College of Staten Island.

Brooklyn scored early and often on Wednesday as the Bulldogs cruised to the 11-0 win, ending the game in the fifth via the run rule.

"I'm happy with our workmen like team effort and the overall efficiency in our execution," said head coach Michael Ponsiglione. "We got our bunts down when needed and our pitching was excellent. Today was an overall team effort."

Freshman Chrissy Heyer set the tone for the home team at the top of the lineup, as the lead-off hitter went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and three runs scored. With her hits today, Heyer joined teammates Kayla Hill and Samantha Rodriguez to record 50 hits on the season.

Junior Liza Nunez also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Senior Kimberly Brennan drove in two runs, while Becky Ganley scored twice.

Hill (10-6) picked up the win for the Bulldogs, allowing just two hits, while striking out three over three innings. Brennan finished the game to conclude the shutout, allowing just one hit and striking out two over two innings.

Jacqueline Gioia (4-11) took the loss for the Bearcats, allowing 11 runs (seven earned) on nine hits, while walking five and striking out three over four innings.
