Box Score Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Bulldogs lost for only the second time in league play on Wednesday evening, falling 74-59 to Lehman. The Bulldogs fall to 13-6 and 9-2 in CUNYAC play with the loss, while the Lightning improve to 13-6, 8-2.
After Lehman jumped out to a 10-5 lead to start play, Brooklyn went on a 12-0 run, capped by a pair of
Twanda Holder free throws, to capture a 17-10 lead. Â
The Lightning would respond with a 17-4 run, opening a 27-21 lead midway through the second quarter. The Bulldogs would bounce back to tie the game at 27 on a layup by
Maya Ajee-Thomas, however the visitors would close the half by retaking the lead, 36-35.
Lehman's Amely del Rosario would lead all scorers with 14 at the break.
Lehman would begin the second half by scoring the first five points, upping their lead to six, 41-35. Â Brooklyn would get within two, 43-41, as
Justine Vento hit a three pointer with 6:09 to go in the quarter, however Lehman would increase their lead up to eight, 49-41, on a Jennifer Navarro three.
The Bulldogs would close the quarter on a run to cut the deficit to four, 53-49, as Vento connected on another three with five seconds remaining in the stanza.
In the fourth Brooklyn missed many opportunities to score on open shots and fell behind by double figures and were forced to foul. BC could only muster five points in the first eight minutes of the period.
Taylor Gallagher had a team-high 12 points for BC, while
Olivia Colbert added 10 points and 12 boards.
Lehman was led by del Rosario's game-high of 23 points.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to the College of Staten Island for another big conference game. The contest is scheduled for a 3 pm tip-off.
