Women's Volleyball Keeps it Close, But Falls at Maritime

Bronx, NY---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team dropped their final road match of the regular season this evening, falling to Maritime, 3-0.  Brooklyn moves to 7-20 overall with the non-conference defeat.  The Bulldogs will return home Thursday to host St. Joseph's Brooklyn at 6:00 pm.

Brooklyn played the first two sets neck-and-neck with the Privateers.  A slow start in the first set had the Bulldogs playing catch-up through the game, beginning the set in a 5-0 hole.  Brooklyn showed some resilience clawing their way back into set, cutting the Maritime lead to 11-9.  However, a couple of quick Maritime runs kept the Bulldogs at bay for the remainder of the set.

Finding themselves in a 9-3 hole to start the second set, the Bulldogs methodically played their way back into the set, only trailing 23-22 down the stretch.  However, the home team never let the visitor get any closer, scoring two of the next three points to seal the set.

Maritime rolled in the third set scoring six straight to take a 10-3 lead and never looking back.

Brooklyn was led by junior outside hitter Sarina Rozek's six kills. Senior middle blocker Francesca LoCascio added four kills
