Brooklyn, NY---Freshman forward
Victoria Ramirez scored a pair of goals this afternoon to help the top-seeded Brooklyn College women's soccer shut out #4 seed CCNY in the semifinal of the CUNYAC Championships at BC field. The Bulldogs will take on #2 CSI who defeated #3 Lehman in the other semifinal match. Brooklyn improves to 8-8-2 with the victory. The CUNYAC Championship will be played on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Brooklyn College Field.
The Bulldogs controlled the tempo from the opening kick waiting for their opportunity to strike first. That opportunity came in the 18' as Ramirez broke free out front and scored the game winner from just in front of the goal. She scored her second goal of the first period in 41st minute on a diagonal assist from junior middle
Iliana Cabral.
Senior midfielder
Sayla Flores scored the Bulldogs' insurance goal in the 70' on a blast from about twenty-five yards out off of a deflection.
Senior goalie
Samantha Rodriguez recorded her ninth shutout of the season finishing with six saves on the evening.
Despite the lopsided scoring, the Bulldogs only outshot the Beavers 14-12 on the afternoon including eight shots on goal to six.
Saturday will mark the third time in four seasons that Brooklyn and CSI play for the CUNYAC Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
