Women's Basketball Rolls to Second Straight to Start Season Over St. Joe's LI, 74-55

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College women's basketball team cruised to their second victory in a row at home tonight, defeating St. Joseph's College Long Island, 74-55.  Brooklyn improves to 2-0 with the win; St. Joe's falls to 1-2.  The Bulldogs will have the Thanksgiving break off before hosting Hunter on Tuesday, November 29th.  It will be the first half of a CUNYAC doubleheader with the women tipping off at 5:00 pm.  

Sloppy at times throughout the contest, the Bulldogs outscored the Golden Eagles 29-16 in the third period to take full control of the game.  A three-point make by sophomore guard Alexandra Moogan with 6:06 left in the third quarter gave the Bulldogs a double-digit lead that they wouldn't relinquish for the remainder of the game.  The Bulldogs pushed their lead to 19 before the end of the third quarter.  

Brooklyn extended their lead to as many as 23 points (66-43) with 7:24 left in the fourth period.  

The Bulldogs weren't always in command as both teams ended the first quarter knotted 14-14.  However, Brooklyn started the second quarter with a 12-0 run, gaining some momentum in the process.  St. Joe's did respond toward the end of the first cutting the Bulldog lead to 32-26 heading into the break.  Senior forward Olivia Colbert led the Bulldogs at halftime with a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds). 

Turnovers marred the first half with St. Joe's committing 24 and BC turning it over 17 times.   

Brooklyn out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 55-34 for the game including 32-8 on the offensive boards. 

The Bulldogs were led by Colbert's 18 points and 12 rebounds.  Sophomore guard Alexandra Moogan came off of the bench to score with 12 points and grab seven rebounds on the evening.
