Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team dropped their third game in a row this evening, falling to Lehman College at home in conference play. Brooklyn moves down to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in CUNYAC with the loss. Lehman improves to 4-3 and 2-1 with the victory. The Bulldogs continue CUNYAC play on Friday as they travel to Manhattan to take on John Jay. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm following the women's game, which starts at 6:00 pm.
Trailing by 13 points to start the second half, the Bulldogs would cut the Lightning lead to seven points on three separate occasions with the latest coming with 9:04 left in the game on a
Valdon Baptiste three-point make, but wasn't able to claw their way any closer.
Brooklyn opened the second half with a 4-0 run on back-to-back
Austin Wood lay-ins to cut the Lehman to 49-40 within the first minute. However, the Lightning answered with a three-point make to retake a double-digit lead.
The teams would trade baskets until Baptiste's three-pointer with a little over nine minutes to go. Lehman would lead by as many as 16 points in the second half.
Brooklyn and Lehman were tied 11-11 through the first five minutes of the game until the Lightning went on a 13-1 run for a 24-12 advantage with 11:18 remaining in the opening period. An Anaselrahman Abdu free-throw brought the Bulldogs within eight points with 2:43 left in the first half. However, the Lightning closed out the first half with an 8-3 run. BC freshman point guard
Michael Tesoriero banged a three-pointer with seven seconds to go in the first half for a 49-36 halftime score in favor of the Lightning.
Lehman shot the ball well as a team in the first half connecting on almost 64% of their shots. The Lightning shot 52.9% from behind the arc for the game. The Bulldogs shot 47.5% from the floor for the game.
Five Bulldogs reached double figures in scoring for evening led by senior center Enees Nikovic's 19 points. Nikovic finished with the game's only double-double adding ten rebounds to his line. Baptiste and Abdu contributed 13 points a piece off of the bench while Wood and junior guard
Maynard Grant IV chipped in 12 a piece as starters.
