Women's Basketball Rolls to 66-45 Victory at Medgar Evers

Brooklyn, NY---A 29-point first quarter helped the Brooklyn College women's basketball team cruise to a 66-45 victory this evening in CUNYAC play at Medgar Evers.  BC improves to 17-7 overall and 12-3 with the victory.  The Cougars drop to 2-22 and 2-13.  Brooklyn will close out the regular season at Baruch on Tuesday, February 16, in a CUNYAC doubleheader.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM, followed by the men's game at 8:00 PM.

Not wasting any time to set the tone of the game, the Bulldogs jumped out to  7-0 lead to start the contest.  The Bulldogs took their first double-digit lead just under five minutes into the game.  BC grabbed a 29-10 lead heading into the second period.

Despite being outscored by the Cougars in the second and fourth periods, the Bulldogs created a big enough hole that the home team would not be able to crawl out of.  BC led by as many as 25 points in the third period.

Leading the CUNYAC in scoring defense, the Bulldogs held the Cougars to 26.2% shooting from the field for the game.

Sophomore captain guard, Karen Mak, led the Bulldogs in scoring with 19 points to go along with four rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  Junior forward, Olivia Colbert, posted a double-double finishing the evening with 16 points and 15 rebounds.  Fellow starting juniors, Justine Vento and Taylor Gallagher, added eight each at the guard position.  Mak and Vento contributed for five of the seven made BC three-point field goals.
