New York, NY---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team split in their first two conference matches of the season. In their first match of the afternoon, the Bulldogs fell to host, Baruch, 0-3 (16, 15, 13). The Bulldogs bounced back in the second match, defeating Lehman 3-1 (16, 29-27, 17-25, 17). BC moves to 3-6 overall on the season and is .500 in CUNYAC play with a 1-1 record. The Bulldogs return to non-conference action on Monday, February 8, at St. Joseph's College Brooklyn at 7:00 PM.
The Bearcats played to their first win of the season over the Bulldogs in their first match of the afternoon. Baruch outcored Brooklyn 8-1 at one point in the first game leading to the final score. In the second, the Bulldogs fell down 0-6 to start the game, which they never were able to recover from for the remainder of the set. BC would start the game evenly, trailing 3-4. However, Baruch's systematic three to four points to the Bulldogs one in clusters sealed the match.
BC was led by freshman standout Titus Vaughn who finished with eight points on seven kills and a service ace. Sophomore captain
Rudy Zhao finished with 7.5 points also on seven kills, and a block assist.
Brooklyn bounced back quickly, defeating Lehman in their second match of the day. Titus and Zhao combined for 36 kills in the match. Freshman
Hosep Ohanian added 14 points including seven kills and five service aces.
