Men's Volleyball Sweeps CSI, 3-0, in CUNYAC Action

Brooklyn, NY---Tonight the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team avenged a heartbreaking 3-2 loss back on February 18th, sweeping College of Staten Island, 3-0, at home on Whiteout Night at the West Quad Center. The victory snaps a five-game skid for the Bulldogs and helps them move to 6-14 overall and 3-7 in CUNYAC play. Staten Island drops to 4-14 overall and 2-8 in the conference.

BC jumped out to an early 6-2 lead to start the first game. However, the Dolphins responded with five unanswered points to take a 9-7 lead. Following a Dolhpin service error, the Bulldogs scored three more in a row capped by a Moaz Choudhary block to retake the lead, 11-9. BC kept the lead for the remainder of the game, putting together strings of two and three point runs that kept the Dolphins at bay.

The Bulldogs controlled the second game from the start, scoring the first five points with freshman outside hitter Vaughn Titus serving. Despite a 4-0 Dolphin run, the managed five more in row capped by Sayuj Zachariah service ace to take a vommanding 10-4 lead. Leading 18-15, the Bullldogs scored five in a row making the difference towards the end of the game for the win. Sophomore Rudy Zhao scored a kill for the Bulldogs' last point.

Played evenly through the first 19 points of the third game, the Bulldogs scored three in a row to take a four point lead. Following a CSI kill, the Bulldogs scored four in a row to take a 17-10 advantage. With the Bulldogs leading 23-15, CSI made one last push to force a fourth game, cutting the BC lead to three. Not willing to relive the events of the first match between the two teams, the Bulldogs put the match away scoring two of the final three points.

BC was led by Rudy Zhao's 20 kills including two blocks. Vaughn Titus contributed six kills and led the Bulldogs with 12 digs.
