Brooklyn, NY---With every set coming down to the wire, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team was eventually outlasted in conference play this evening, 3-2, by John Jay.  The Bulldogs drop to 8-19 overall on the season and 5-11 in the CUNYAC.  John Jay improves to 15-11 and 11-5 in-conference.  Brooklyn will wrap up their regular season on Friday at Bard.  Opening serve is set for 7:00 PM.

The opening game set the suspenseful tone for for the rest of the match.  Tied 22-22, the Bulldogs scored three straight to win the first set.  Freshman outside hitter Vaughn Titus blasted the winning kill to give BC the 1-0 advantage to start the match.

John Jay responded in the second set, putting four unanswered points together towards the end of the set, to take a commanding 23-15 lead.  Prior to the Bloodhound run, Brooklyn gave the visitors a scare scoring four unanswered themselves to cut the John Jay lead to 19-15.

The Bloodhounds broke the tie in the third set, taking a 21-13 lead that they never looked back from.  They closed the set after a three-point run by the Bulldogs, 25-18.

BC did not relent in the fourth game.  Trailing 11-8, the Bulldogs scored four straight to take a 13-11 lead.  The teams were nose to nose until Brooklyn ended the game with three straight points already up by one.

The fifth set did not get less dramatic.  John Jay jumped out to 12-8 lead, only three points from winning the match, until the Bulldogs scored three straight to cut the John Jay lead to one.  However, the Bloodhounds ended the match on three straight kills, 15-11.

Brooklyn was led by Vaughn Titus' 19 kills and four service aces.  Sophomore middle hitter Rudy Zhao finished with 11 kills on the evening.  Freshman setter Sayuj Zachariah set for 34 assists on the night.
