Alfred, NY---With a little over ten minutes remaining in regulation, junior midfielder
Jordy Ortiz scored the game-winning goal that gave BC men's soccer a 3-2 win over SUNY Canton on the second day of the Alfred University Alumni Classic. The Bulldogs improve to 2-3 with the victory. Brooklyn will have the week to prepare for their first conference match of the season as they play host to Lehman on Saturday, September 17. KIckoff is scheduled for 2:30 pm in the Bulldogs home opener.
Brooklyn would respond with two consecutive goals after falling behind 1-0 in the 20th of match. Senior defenseman,
Kevin Bresnan, tied the match on a header assisted by senior forward
Valentyn Kharko in the 40th minute. The match would go into halftime tied 1-1.
The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead in the 51st minute on an
Andres Pertuz goal assisted by
Sertac Altun. The Kangeroos came right back with a goal of their own in the 64th minute. However, the Bulldogs would have the final say with Ortiz's late unassisted net.
Both teams finished with nine shots on goal for the match.
Freshman goalkeeper,
Jerron Streete finished the match with seven saves.
Bresnan, Ortiz, Jean Luc Saint Fleur, and Streete would all be named to the All-Tournament team.
Valentyn Kharko was named the classic's Most Valuable Payer.
