Farmingdale, NY---Brooklyn College senior midfielder,
Andres Pertuz, scored the game-winning goal in the 39th minute and the BC men's soccer team never looked back for their first win of the season at Farmingdale State this afternoon. The Bulldogs improved to 1-2 with the 3-0 shutout. Farmingdale dropped to 1-2 with the non-conference loss. The Bulldogs will be back on the field at the Alfred University Alumni Classic hosted by Alfred University this weekend. On Saturday, the Bulldogs will take on the host school at 5:30 pm, and on Sunday, will face off against SUNY Canton at 1:00 pm.
Picking up his first win as the head coach of the Bulldogs, Joseph Andre would comment after the match, "Even though I felt we missed a lot of opportunities to score, I thought it was a solid team effort." Adding to where the Bulldogs need to improve, he would go on to say, "We still have to do a better job taking care of the ball in our passing game."
Following the game-winner, senior forward,
Valentyn Kharko, notched his second goal of the season in the 50th minute. Just short of time expiring in the match, junior midfielder,
Jean-Luc Saint-Fleur, added an insurance goal in the 88th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper
Jerron Streete recorded his first clean sheet of his college career with the shutout finishing with six saves on the afternoon.
Despite the Rams outshooting the Bulldogs 16-9, BC proved to be more accurate converting on three of their six shots on goal.
