Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Outlasted at Hunter, 65-55

New York, NY---In a defensive bout, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team wasn't able to build on a two-possession lead early in the second half and fell in conference play this evening at Hunter, 65-55.  Brooklyn drops to 3-15 and 1-8 in CUNYAC with the loss.  Hunter improved to 5-4 in CUNYAC and 7-10 overall with the victory.  The Bulldogs continue conference play on the road at Lehman on Friday.  Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm.  

With the game tied 42-42 with 10:47 left in the game, the home team would go on a 6-1 run to take a 48-43 lead with a tick under seven minutes to go in the contest.  Senior Valdon Baptiste knocked down a jumper to make it a one possession game with 6:53 left in regulation.  The Hawks countered with a 6-0 run to extend their lead to nine points with 5:11 left in the game.  

Brooklyn didn't give up and cut the Hunter lead to 56-53 following a split at the foul line by senior guard Austin Wood with 2:27 left in the game.  However, the Hawks closed out the contest shooting 5-6 from the charity stripe to put the game away for good in the final minute.  

A close game throughout, there would be five ties and four lead changes.  Brooklyn would lead by as many as five points in the first half following a Daniel Finkelstein three-point make.  The Bulldogs took a 25-24 lead heading into halftime.  

Four of five Hunter starters reached double figures in scoring led by Mamadou Sakho's game-high 17 points on the evening.  

Brooklyn was led by senior center Enees Nikovic's 12 points.  He also grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double on the evening.  Senior guard Chris McIllhatton was the only other starter that reached double-figures in scoring for the Bulldogs finishing with ten points.  Baptiste finished with ten points off of the bench for BC.  

The Hawks out-rebounded the Bulldogs by four on the offensive glass.  However, Brooklyn outscored Hunter by two on second chances.
