Bronx, NY---Lehman College shot just over 52% in the second half to go on to defeat the Brooklyn College men's basketball team tonight, 91-81. Brooklyn drops to 3-16 and 1-9 in CUNYAC with the loss. Lehman improved to 9-8 and 6-4 with the conference victory. The Bulldogs continue their conference road stretch at Medgar Evers on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 8pm following the women's game.
The Bulldogs controlled the first half, never trailing and leading by as many as 14 points in the first twenty minutes. Senior center
Enees Nikovic paced Brooklyn in the opening period with 15 points and 13 rebounds. He finished with a game-high 23 points and 16 rebounds.
Lehman began to chip away at BC's substantial advantage in the latter minutes of the first half, cutting Brooklyn's lead to 41-37 at halftime sparked by an 8-0 run.
Four of the five BC starters reached double-figures in scoring on the evening. Senior guard
Chris McIllhatton who knocked down a three with with 3:29 left in the first half extended the Bulldogs' lead back to nine points following Lehman's 8-0 run.
Brooklyn relinquished their lead for good at the 17:45 mark in the second half. LC knocked down a three-point shot to take a 45-43 lead. Junior guard
Niv Konfino responded with a lay-in tying the game with 17:08 remaining in the contest. Lehman would take the lead for good following a turnover committed by both teams.
The Lightning extended their lead to as many as twelve points in the next three minutes. Brooklyn did not go away, putting together a 9-2 run to cut the Lightning lead to three points with four minutes left in regulation. However, Lehman would go on a 10-0 run to take a 13 point lead with 1:28 remaining in the contest that put the game out of reach for the Bulldogs.
Lehman got strong offensive from Andrew Utate and Vince Young who finished with 22 points and 21 points respectively on the evening.
