Strong Second Half Boosts Women's Basketball to Win Over Over St. Joseph's Brooklyn, 74-50

Brooklyn, NY---In a non-conference 'Battle of Brooklyn', the BC women's basketball team outscored St. Joseph's Brooklyn 48-30 in the second half to cruise to a 74-50 win.  The Bulldogs improve to 14-4 with the victory.  SJC Brooklyn drops to 5-12 with the loss.  The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround as they host Skidmore College tomorrow at the West Quad Center at 1:00 pm.

Led by senior forward Olivia Colbert's 16 points, four BC players reached double-figures in scoring including three starters.

With the Bulldogs leading 26-20 at halftime, BC opened it up in the third period with a 14-2 run in the first five minutes of the second half to take a 40-22 lead.  The Bears cut the lead to as few as 13 points in the next minute, but junior guard Kailyn Richburg responded with a three-point make off of the dribble to give Brooklyn a 43-27 advantage with 3:38 remaining in the third period.  BC led by as many as 19 points in the period.

Brooklyn rolled in the final period extending their lead to as many as 28 points following back-to-back three-pointers sunk by sophomore wing, Alexandra Moogan.

Brooklyn looked like a brand new team in the second half especially offensively, shooting 48.6% in the final two periods after shooting 21.3% in the first half.

Despite shooting poorly in the first half, the Bulldogs never trailed thanks in part to 17 offensive rebounds to the Bears' four.  Brooklyn out-rebounded St. Joe's 25-8 on the offensive glass for the game.

Senior guard Taylor Gallagher, senior center Maya Ajee-Thomas, and sophomore wing Alexandra Moogan added ten points a piece for BC.  Gallagher shot an efficient 2-4 from beyond the arc for the night.  Junior point guard Karen finished the game with eight assists.

St. Joseph's College Brooklyn was led by Victoria Porcasi's game-high 17 points.
