New York, NY---The Brooklyn College women's basketball team cruised to their fourth straight victory, 79-45, to remain perfect in conference play (5-0) at CCNY this evening. BC improves to 9-2 overall with the victory. The Beavers drop to 4-9 and 1-5 with the conference loss. The Bulldogs return home on Monday, January 9, to host York in a CUNYAC doubleheader. Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm at the West Quad Center.
Brooklyn's defense and rebounding played a big factor in the Bulldogs' offense with 54 of their 79 points coming by way of offensive rebounds and turnovers. The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Beavers on the offensive boards 21-11 on the evening while scoring 27 points off of CCNY's 21 turnovers.
Never trailing the entire game, the Bulldogs opened up contest with an 8-0 run sparked by a three-point make by senior guard
Justine Vento on the first possession of the game. The Beavers closed the gap slightly cutting the Bulldog lead to 13-7 to end the opening period.
Brooklyn exploded in the second period, outscoring CCNY 27-8 to take a 40-15 halftime lead. The Bulldogs would lead by as many as 28 points in the second period. Brooklyn made five of their eleven three-pointers in the second period alone including two by junior guard Kailyn Richburg.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to 36 points on a three-point make by sophomore wing
Alexandra Moogan to end the third period. Moogan would go on to score a game-high 13 points including three makes from behind the arc.
Brooklyn maintained than a comfortable lead through the final period to seal the conference victory.
Twelve of the fourteen Bulldogs that saw action this evening would score at least two points. Richburg and Moogan combined for 25 points off of the bench with Richburg adding 12 points to Moogan's game-high. Senior forward
Olivia Colbert flirted with her third double-double of the season finishing with nine points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
