Jersey City, NJ---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team's three-match win streak was snapped tonight, falling at New Jersey City University, 0-3 (22-25, 12-25, 20-25). Brooklyn moves to 8-6 with the loss. The Gothic Knights improved to 6-9 with the victory. Brooklyn will look to remain undefeated in CUNYAC on Tuesday, March 7, as they travel to York. Opening serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
The Bulldogs looked good early in the opening set, taking a 7-4 lead. NJCU countered with four straight scores to retake the lead, 8-7. The teams would continue to go back and forth the entire first set until the Gothic Knights picked up three straight points including two on BC's errors to take a 22-18 lead. Brooklyn would not be able to recover despite trading points with the Gothic Knights the remainder of the set.
NJCU jumped all over BC in the second set, taking a 10-0 lead out of the gate. Brooklyn found themselves in too deep of a hole to climb out of in the second set.
Brooklyn regained the composure they displayed in the first set in the third, taking an early 5-2 lead on five straight scores. With the Bulldogs leading 13-9, the home team made their move, scoring six straight for a one-point advantage. Once again, the teams traded points until the game was tied 20-20. Errors hurt the Bulldogs down the stretch with NJCU scoring five straight to end the match.
Freshman middle hitter
Ahmed Moawad led the Bulldogs with six kills on the evening. Junior middle hitter Moaz Ali Choudhary finished with four block assists for the match.
