Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team improved to 5-1 in CUNYAC this evening, shutting out CCNY, 3-0, on Senior Night at the West Quad Center. BC improves to 12-7 overall with the conference win. CCNY drops to 7-11 and 1-5 with the loss. The Bulldogs will be on the road for the remainder of the season starting with a conference match with Lehman on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
Senior outside hitter
Rudy Zhao led BC with nine kills and four digs. Fellow senior Seva Tsupa finished with a solid overall performance with a kill, a service ace, two block assists, an assist, and pair of digs.
The second set was the key for the Bulldogs this evening. Falling behind 3-0 in the second after rolling towards the end of the first set with a 25-18 win, the Bulldogs clawed their way back to tie the match 7-7 early on. The teams traded points throughout with CCNY clinging to a 20-19 lead late in the game. The Bulldogs would then go on a 5-0 started by Zhao kill to take the lead for good. Zhao would end the second set with a kill for the 25-21 victory.
Brooklyn never trailed in the third set, picking up four points towards the middle of the game to extend their lead to 13-7 and a comfortable cushion to close out the match without much of a threat from the Beavers. Sophomore outside hitter
Vaughn Titus ended the match with a service following a Zhao kill for a 25-15 victory in the third set.
Junior setter
Eddie Peng set for a team-high 11 assists. Junior middle blocker Moaz Ali Choudhary finished the match with four blocks. Freshman middle hitter
Ahmed Moawad finished with five kills and three blocks.
