Madison, NJ---The Brooklyn College softball tem had their four-game win-streak snapped this afternoon, dropping both games of a non-conference doubleheader at Fairleigh Dickinson University tonight. Brooklyn fell to the Devils, 12-0 (5 Innings), in Game 1 and 8-0 (5 innings) in Game 2. BC drops to 6-17 with the losses while FDU improved to 11-18 with the victories. The Bulldogs will have a day off before hosting Hunter College on Saturday for a CUNYAC doubleheader. Opening pitch is set for noon.
In Game 1, the Devils' starting pitcher, Audrie Thomas, pitched all five shut-out innings yielding only a pair of Bulldog hits. Junior infielder
Breanna Maresca and sophomore catcher,
Shakira Feliciano, each managed a single off of the junior hurler who improved 5-11. BC starter, Uena Xharo, dropped to 4-8 with the loss.
The Devils scored runs in every inning they batted in the first game. They also homered three times in the game including an inside the park grand-slam in the bottom of the second.
Junior outfielder,
Angelica Cornier, freshman infielder,
Anna Curran, and freshman infielder,
Dina Nguyen, were the other three base-runners in the game for BC with walks.
In Game 2, the Bulldogs managed a hit each off of FDU starter Meagan Zaccario and reliever, Kaylee Fish. Sophomore infielder
Brianna Preston and senior infielder
Nicole Rose registered a single each. Freshman center fielder,
Leslie Lima, walked and stole a base. BC freshman pitcher,
Anna Curran, dropped to 2- with the loss.
The Devils opened up their scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run homer. They scored their fourth run of the inning on an RBI double. FDU tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the third inning beginning with a 2 RBI double.
