Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College softball team dropped both games of a CUNYAC doubleheader this afternoon to Hunter College. Hunter defeated the Bulldogs 14-0 in Game 1 and completed the sweep with an 11-2 victory in the second game. Brooklyn moves 6-20 and 2-8 in CUNYAC while the Hawks improved to 12-12 and 10-2. The Bulldogs continue league play on the road at Lehman on Monday.
In Game 1, Hunter starting pitcher Nicole Guzzone pitched four innings only yielding one BC hit and striking out four. Brooklyn's lone hit was single raked by freshman center fielder,
Leslie Lima. The Hawks jumped on the Bulldogs in the top of the first inning, scoring two runs on two hits. Hunter really opened the game up in the top of the next inning, scoring six runs while batting through the lineup.
In Game 2, the Hawks scored nine runs in the top of the second inning to take a 9-0 lead before the Bulldogs responded with their first run of the day. Sophomore infielder
Brianna Preston hit a RBI-double driving home junior Breanna Maresca who walked to start BC off. Trailing 11-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the Bulldogs found some late life starting with a single hit by sophomore outfielder
Daminska Estime. She would advance to third on a double hit by Lima who went 2-2 in the game. With two outs, sophomore catcher,
Shakira Feliciano, hit a RBI single driving Estime home. However, the Bulldogs' rally fell short on a ground out that ended the game.
