Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College softball team suffered a non-conference sweep against Purchase College to close out the regular season this evening. Brooklyn was shutout in Game 1, 8-0, in five innings before getting on the board in the second game of the doubleheader, but eventually falling to the Panthers, 13-3. Brooklyn will await their opponent for the quarterfinal round of the CUNYAC Championship as the No. 6 seed on Wednesday. Purchase improved to 8-14 with the victories.
In Game 1, Purchase starting hurler, Nicole Fortuna pitched five near-flawless innings, yielding two Bulldog hits and not walking a batter. BC sophomore catcher,

Brianna Preston each had singles. After scoring a couple runs to start the game, the Panthers opened it up in third inning by scoring six runs.
In Game 2, the Bulldogs would once again find themselves down early, trailing Purchase 4-0 through one and half. Brooklyn would get on the board in the bottom of the second on an RBI single hit by Preston, driving home junior utility Breanna Maresca who led the inning off with a triple. Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, senior second baseman,
Nicole Rose, hit a two-run in the park homer, also driving sophomore shortstop,
Anna Curran, home who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Purchase would get out of the inning with three straight strikeouts after sophomore outfielder Daminska Estime was hit by a pitch following Rose's blast. Purchase scored three runs a piece in the final two innings.
