Softball Swept by Baruch in CUNYAC Action

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College softball team dropped both games of a CUNYAC doubleheader today against Baruch College.  Baruch would take Game 1, 15-0, and closed out the day with a 22-1 victory in Game 2.  The Bulldogs move to 2-10 overall and 0-6 in CUNYAC.  Baruch improved to 7-3 with their first two conference wins played.  Brooklyn will take to the road tomorrow as they travel to Delaware Valley for a non-conference doubleheader.  The Bulldogs return home on Tuesday to host Cairn UNiversity for a non-conference doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm. 

Game 1 Recap - BC - 0 | Baruch - 15 (5 Innings)

The Bearcats scored at least three runs in every inning they batted.  Baruch starting pitcher, Cassandra Lagana, improved to 4-1  on the season only allowing two hits with three strikeouts in four innings of work.  

Brooklyn stranded four runners on the day including two in the final inning of play.  Three Bulldogs managed a hit in the game.  Freshman center fielder, Leslie Lima, stole two bases.  

Baruch had three players go 3-4 in the game.  The Bearcats finished with 13 hits.  

Game 2 Recap - BC - 1 | Baruch - 21 (5 Innings)

Baruch kept their bats hot in the second game, raking 17 hits that produced 16 RBIs.  The Bearcats exploded for 16 runs in the first two innings.

Brooklyn scored their lone run in the top of the second inning.  Trailing 5-0 after the first inning, junior first baseman Breanna Maresca led the Bulldogs off with a triple.  A ground-out RBI hit by sophomore outfielder Angelica Cornier drove Maresca home.  

Lima picked up second hit of the day in the game and freshman pitcher Anna Curran knocked a single for the Bulldogs' other two hits.
