Mak Finishes with Triple-Double in 78-59 Win Over Baruch

Brooklyn, NY---With four players reaching double-figures in scoring for the game, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team extended its win-streak to seven with a 78-59 conference victory over Baruch this afternoon at the West Quad Center.  BC's overall record is now 14-2 and 6-1 in CUNYAC.  Baruch drops to 3-9 and 3-4 in conference play.  Next up: The Bulldogs travel to the College of Staten Island on Wednesday for a huge conference match-up. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.  

How It Happened

-After Baruch took a 3-0 lead with a three-point make in the first minute of play, the Bulldogs responded with a 9-0 lead capped by a three-point make drained by junior wing, Alexandra Moogan with 7:54 left  in the opening quarter.  Brooklyn would keep the lead the rest of the way.
-The Bulldogs extended their lead to 19 points in the first 2:30 of the second quarter scoring ten unanswered points.  Senior guard, Karen Mak, gave Brooklyn a 45-30 halftime lead on a three-point make.
-Brooklyn led by as many as 23 points in the third quarter following a made jumper shot by freshman guard, Taylor George. 
-The Bulldogs continued to pull away, starting the fourth quarter with a 6-0 run for their largest lead of the game (25).

Box Score Breakdown

-Brooklyn finished with 9 three-pointers to the Bearcats' 4.
-The Bulldogs outscored Baruch 16-5 on second chance points thanks in-part to a 22-5 advantage on the offensive glass. 

Leading the Bulldogs

-Karen Mak recorded the first triple-double of her career, finishing with 19 points, 11 assists, and 10 steals. 
-Moogan scored a season-high 23 points while shooting 6-11 from beyond the arc. She also grabbed 13 rebounds for one of the team's double-doubles.
-George and freshman forward, Chanel Jemmott, also reached double-figures in scoring with 11 and 13 respectively. 

Leading the Bearcats

-Shannon Barrett scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
-Melinda Sahiu and Sameera Ahmed added 13 points and 12 points respectively.
