Women's Basketball Moves into First Place in CUNYAC with 73-68 Win at CSI

Staten Island, NY---In a battle for First Place in the CUNYAC standings, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team used a dominant third quarter to hand the College of Staten Island their first conference loss of the season, 73-68.  The Bulldogs improve to 15-2 overall and 7-1 in CUNYAC with the road victory.  CSI moves to 13-3 and 7-1.  Brooklyn continues conference play at home on Friday as they look to avenge an early season loss to Hunter College.  Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm.  

How It Happened

-Leading 34-27 at the half, the Bulldogs came out of the intermission on a 17-0 tear that included five three-point makes.  Junior wing, Alexandra Moogan buried three "treys" during the run.  BC outscored the Dolphins 24-9 in the third quarter. 
-The home team didn't go away, cutting the Bulldog lead to a point, 69-68, with 13 seconds to go in the game.  However, BC iced the game with two perfect trips to the free throw line and a pair of defensive stops.  
-Played closely through the first half, the Bulldogs took the lead for good with 8:55 left in the second quarter.

-Four Bulldogs reached double-figures in scoring.
-BC continued its dominance on the offensive boards, out-rebounding the Dolphins 26-10 for extra chances.  
-Brooklyn shot 55% (11-20) from beyond the arc.  

Leading the Bulldogs

-Freshman guard, Taylor George, scored a team-high 17 points.
-Moogan scored 15 points, shooting 5-8 from long-range, and grabbed 12 rebounds for one of the Bulldogs' double-doubles. 
-Junior forward Jasmine Hansgen had the other double-double for the Bulldogs finishing with 13 points and 14 rebounds. 
-Freshman guard Michelle Pena came off the bench to contribute 10 points.

Leading the Dolphins

-Samantha Flecker scored a game-high 27 points. 
-Christina Pasaturo scored 19 points and dished out seven assists.
