Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team got themselves back in the win column this evening, defeating Hunter College, 70-64, at the West Quad Center. BC improves to 4-13 and 4-5 in CUNYAC with the victory. Hunter drops to 8-9 and 5-4. The Bulldogs remain home on Monday to host Lehman in the second part of a conference doubleheader. Tip-off is slated for 7:15 pm.
How It Happened
-With the game knotted, 52-52, with 8:04 to go in regulation, a 5-0 run sparked by a made three drilled by sophomore wing Henry O'Reilly, gave the Bulldogs the lead for good with 7:11 left in the game. Hunter would cut the BC lead to one, 63-62, with 3:14 left to play, but a Michael Tesoriero lay-in pushed the lead back up to five with 2:32 to go.
-Played closely through the first half, the Bulldogs kept a slim lead most of the way, heading into halftime with a 37-32 advantage.
Box Score Breakdown
-BC out-rebounded Hunter 17-6 on the offensive glass for the evening, outscoring the Hawks 16-3 on second chance points.
-Brooklyn committed 13 turnovers to Hunter's 20.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Senior guard Ben Batash and sophomore guard Michael Tesoriero led BC with 14 points each. Tesoriero dished out four assists and grabbed five rebounds.
-Sophomore wing Henry O'Reilly scored 11 points on 3-5 from beyond the arc off of the bench.
-Freshman guard Noah Shy added 10 points in 19 minutes off of the bench.
Leading the Hawks
-George Keener scored a game-high 21 points on 9-11 from the field.
-Matt Franks added 11 points.
