Brooklyn Wins Fifth in a Row at CCNY, 60-50

New York, NY---Never trailing the entire contest, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team won their fifth straight game at CCNY this evening, 60-50, in conference play.  Brooklyn improves to 11-2 overall and 4-1 in CUNYAC with the win.  CCNY moves to 8-5 and 3-3.  The Bulldogs return home on Thursday, January 11th, to York College in the first part of a CUNYAC doubleheader.  Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm at the West Quad Center.  

How It Happened

-Already leading 9-4 halfway the first quarter, the Bulldogs opened the game up with a 10-0 run to take a 19-4 lead with 1:31 left.  
-BC grabbed their largest lead of the game (18) on their first two possessions of the second quarter.  The Bulldogs head into halftime with a 36-25 advantage.  
-The Beavers would come back in the third quarter, cutting the Bulldog lead to as few as four points with 2:32 remaining.  BC responded with a 10-0 run including six points scored in the paint by junior forward Jasmine Hansgen during the stretch.  
-CCNY would come within seven points on two separate occasions late in the final quarter, but Brooklyn senior guard Karen Mak put the game away for the Bulldogs with a three-point play with 23 seconds left in the contest.  

Box Score Breakdown

-BC out-rebounded CCNY 27-17 on the offensive boards. 
-The Bulldogs scored 32 points off of turnovers to the Beavers' nine. 

Leading the Bulldogs

-Hansgen scored a game-high 15 points on 7-12 from the field.  
-Junior wing Alexandra Moogan finished with game's only double-double, dropping in 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
-Freshman guard Taylor George contributed 12 points off of the bench.

-Emily Arias scored a team-high 13 points.
-Debra Chan added 10 points.
