Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team pulled out a huge home win this evening, defeating national perennial power, University of St. Thomas (MN), 78-77. Brooklyn improves to 2-0 to start the season while the Tommies dropped to 0-1 after their Season Opener. The Bulldogs will hit the road tomorrow for a pair of games at Buffalo State this weekend. On Saturday, BC takes on Johnson and Wales and closes out the trip on Sunday with an afternoon match-up with the host.
How It Happened
-With just under two seconds left in the game and BC trailing UST, 77-76, junior forward,
Jade Spencer tipped-in a missed lay-up for the game-winner. St. Thomas' last second effort was intercepted by junior guard
Michael Tesoriero to end the game.
-Following a made jumper by junior guard
Jordan Wright giving Brooklyn a 75-70 advantage, the Tommies responded with a 6-1 to tie the game, 76-76, with 1:10 remaining in regulation. UST took a one-point after converting only one of two free-throw attempts with 13 seconds left.
-Brooklyn jumped on the Tommies from the start taking a 15-7 lead in the first five minutes of the game. The visitor clawed its way back into the contest with the three-point shot burying six in the first half. The teams would end up tied, 44-44, at halftime.
-Both teams struggled from the charity stripe with the Tommies finishing with a slight 56% to 53% advantage for the evening. Brooklyn finished with a slight edge from the field, 45% to 43%. Brooklyn out-rebounded the Tommies 16-13 on the offensive boards for the game.

-Sophomore guard,
Noah Shy, finished with a game-high 22 points on 8-11 from the field.
-Junior guard
Anthony McClean packed a big punch off of the bench finishing with 19 points including going 3-6 from beyond the arc.
-The last-second hero, Spencer, dropped in 11 points and grabbed a game-high nine boards.

Michael Tesoriero and junior guard
Jordan Wright finsihed with six assists each.
Leading the Tommies
-Michael Hannon scored a team-high 15 points on 5-11 from beyond the arc.
-Burt Hedstrom and Ryan Lindberg added 12 points each.
