Brooklyn Protects Home Court With 70-60 Win Over Keystone

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team held off a pesky Keystone College squad, 70-60, this evening for its third win in a row at the West Quad Center.  Brooklyn improves to 5-1 overall with the non-conference win while the Giants dropped to 0-5 with the loss.  The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday at home as they host York College in both teams' conference opener.  It will be Basketball Homecoming Night and the first 450 fans will receive a FREE Brooklyn College Athletics t-shirt.  The BC women's game will precede the men's game at 5:00 pm against York.

How It Happened

-After scoring the game's first bucket, the Bulldogs kept the lead for the remaining of the game.  
-BC opened up the contest with a 7-0 run capped by made three knocked down by junior guard, Anthony McClean
-Keystone pulled within a point of the Bulldogs at the 12:54 mark in the first half, but Brooklyn responded with two unanswered lay-ups finished by junior forward, Jade Spencer
-Brooklyn kicked its lead back up to 13 on an 11-0 run also capped by a McClean three-pointer with 7:20 left in the first half. 
-BC would head into halftime with a 37-29 advantage. 
-Brooklyn opened up the second half with a 6-0 run thanks to back-to-back McClean three-point makes. 
-The Bulldogs led by as many as 18 points in the second half before Keystone chipped away at BC's lead, cutting the deficit to as few as seven points (65-58) with 2:38 left in the game.  Brooklyn secured the win with back-to-back successful trips at the charity stripe in the final minute of play. 
-Despite being out-rebounded by Keystone, 45-43, for the game, the Bulldogs had the edge on the offensive boards, 21-16.  
-Brooklyn committed 23 turnovers to the Giants' 35 for the game.  BC finished with 16 steals as a team. 
-Brooklyn shot 7-21 from beyond the arc to KC's 3-23 for the contest. 

Leading the Bulldogs

-McClean scored a game-high 17 points, connecting on 5-7 from behind the arc. 
-Jade Spencer added 16 points and grabbed nine boards. 
-Sophomore center, Alpha Bah, scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds in 18 minutes off of the bench. 

Leading the Giants

-Jalen Flynn scored a team-high 14 points. 
-Sebastian Tyler had the game's only double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds off of the bench.
